Pro-Iranian fighter killed in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, a gunman loyal to Iran was killed and another wounded when an explosive device exploded targeting their car in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

A member of the Iranian-backed Hashemiyoun faction in the city of al-Mayadin, 35 km east of Deir ez-Zor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that an explosive device was planted near one of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ military points on the bank of the Euphrates River, and it exploded while a military vehicle carrying supplies was passing.

The explosion led to the killing of a gunman from the town of Marat in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, and the injury of another from the town of al-Sayal in al-Bukamal countryside, he added.

The pro-Iranian militias control areas in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, west of the Euphrates River.

Three days ago, residents of the town of Harmoushiya found the body of a member of the government forces, shot in the head near the Euphrates River in the town of Buqris, east of Deir ez-Zor.
