Syria’s AANES describes celebratory shooters as ‘murderers’
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, an official in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) described those who fired indiscriminately two days ago in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, as murderers, and added that they are “no different from ISIS” in this matter.
On Wednesday-Thursday night, an IDP from the Turkish-occupied Afrin region in Syria was killed by celebratory gunfire as many families celebrated their children passing high school exams in Qamishli.
Co-chair of the AANES’s Ministry of Interior Kana’n Barakat said during his condolences to the bereaved family, “the shooter is a murderer, and is not different from ISIS members in this matter.”
He promised to hold the perpetrators accountable for killing the woman.
“The Ministry of Interior will issue a statement tomorrow, Saturday, regarding the crime; we will not tolerate the shooters, and we will deal with them as murderers,” Barakat told North Press.
Barakat revealed an upcoming amendment to the law of the possession of weapons.
He demanded the residents cooperate with the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) when there is firing without reason, and inform the concerned authorities of such actions.
