IDP from Afrin killed by indiscriminate shooting in Syria’s Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday-Thursday night, an IDP from the Turkish-occupied Afrin region in Syria, was killed by indiscriminate firing of bullets in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria.
On Wednesday night, residents of Qamishli heard the sound of bullets and fireworks as many families celebrated their children passing high school exams.
29-year-old Souzan Ahmed Ali and her baby lost their lives on Wednesday after midnight in Farman Private Hospital in Qamishli, a North Press correspondent said.
“Ali was shot in her neck and we performed a surgery that lasted for more than two hours due to her critical case,” a medical source in the hospital told North Press.
Ali was shot when she was at a park in Qamishli with her three-year-old child, a source from her family said.
Over the past years, activists in northeast Syria held campaigns to raise people’s awareness regarding the risks of firing during the occasions.
Social media pioneers circulated the news of the killing of a student in Homs, central Syria, on Wednesday, when his father fired indiscriminate bullets celebrating his son’s passing the high school exams.
