SDF casualties due to IED explosion in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed and another was wounded when an explosive device exploded in their car in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

An SDF military source from the town of Jameh, 70 km east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that the explosion killed one member immediately, while the other was seriously injured and transferred to al-Omar field Hospital for treatment.

The eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside has been recently witnessing assassinations carried out against SDF members, employees of the civil administration, tribal figures, and civilians in the area.

On Monday, a member of the SDF in the town of Abu Hamam, 85 km east of Deir ez-Zor, was shot in the head by masked gunmen; earlier the same day, an explosive device planted near the local council in the town of al-Hawaij, 45 km east of Deir ez-Zor, exploded, coinciding with the passing of an SDF patrol which reported material damage.
