SDF member wounded by unidentified gunmen in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – An SDF military source from the town of Abu Hamam, 85 km east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that a member of the SDF was shot in the head by masked gunmen with a silenced pistol.

He pointed out that the gunmen were riding a motorcycle near the al-Sanour checkpoint in the center of the town. The soldier was transferred to al-Omar Field Hospital for treatment, while the gunmen fled.

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has witnessed recently an increase in ISIS sleeper cell activity as a result the SDF and the US-led Global Coalition intensifying the pace of their security operations.

At dawn on Monday, unknown individuals threw a hand grenade at the house of a local council employee in the town of al-Baghouz, 130 km east of Deir ez-Zor, resulting in material damage.

Also today, an explosive device planted near the local council in the town of al-Hawaij, 45 km east of Deir ez-Zor, exploded, coinciding with the passing of SDF patrol which reported material damage. 

Two days ago, an SDF member was wounded by unidentified gunmen in the town of al-Hawaij, east of Deir ez-Zor.
