Government intensifies shelling of Turkish-backed groups in Syria’s Idlib, Hama
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Syrian government forces renewed their shelling against posts of Turkish-backed armed groups in de-escalation zone in the Idlib and Hama countryside, northwest Syria.
Government forces shelled the armed groups’ fortifications in the towns of al-Fatira, al-Bara, and Kansafra, south Idlib, and the towns of al-Najeya, and Kafr Naji, west the city, with artillery shells and missiles, military sources from the armed groups told North Press.
Meanwhile, armed groups’ posts in the towns of al-Enkawi and al-Zeyarah in the western countryside of Hama witnessed mortar shelling by government forces stationed in Jurin Camp, according the same sources.
As a result of the recent military escalation, about 1,867 people were displaced from villages and towns in Zawiya Mountain, according to a statistic released by Syria Response Coordinators team.
On Monday morning, as a result of the Damascus government’s artillery shelling on the town of al-Magarah and Mareian, south Idlib, five individuals, including a woman and a child, were wounded and they transferred to a medical point for treatment.
