Russian and Turkish forces conduct patrol in Syria’s Kobani countryside
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Russian military police conducted a joint military patrol with Turkish forces in the eastern countryside of Kobani, northern Syria.
This patrol is the 58th patrol between the two forces in the region since the Russian-Turkish agreement on a ceasefire in northeast Syria.
The patrol, consisting of eight Russian and Turkish military vehicles accompanied by two Russian helicopters, took off from the village of Gharib, 15 kilometers east of Kobani.
The patrol roamed the villages of Boztepe, Qeremokh, Jeshan, Jarabisan Fawqani, and Baghdik, all the way to the village of Khaneh (or Bandar Khan) in Tel Abyad’s western countryside.
The patrol then returned to its starting point in the village of Gharib, where Turkish vehicles returned to Turkey via a gate near the village; Russian vehicles returned to their position to the west of Kobani.
Russian-Turkish joint patrols typically alternate between the western and eastern countryside of Kobani, but they were conducted exclusively in the western countryside two consecutive times last week.
On June 7, Russian military police and Turkish forces conducted their 57th joint patrol, starting from the village of Ashma 20 kilometers to the west of Kobani.
