Thousands in Syria’s Kobani protest against Turkish attacks
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, thousands of people from Kobani, north Syria, demonstrated against the Turkish attacks on northeast Syria and areas in Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Thousands of people of Kobani, along with the representatives of the Autonomous Administration, the civil unions and civil society organizations, in addition to the political parties, participated in the demonstration.
The demonstrators, who set out from the Free Woman’s Square in central Kobani towards Peace Square “Ashti”, near the border crossing with Turkey, raised banners saying “No to genocide and no to the new conspiracy.”
Muhammad Shaheen, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Euphrates region, said, all communities of the Euphrates region, including Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen and Armenians, participated in the demonstration.
The demonstrators went out to express their rejection of the Turkish attacks on civilian populated areas in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, he told North Press.
The demonstrators also called on the international community to stop the Turkish attacks on the mountains of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
