Iranian militias evacuate after Israeli raids in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, eyewitnesses from the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor said that Iranian-backed militias have evacuated their positions and headed east for fear of Israeli targeting.
On Tuesday night, Israeli warplanes targeted military sites in the central and southern region of Syria.
On Wednesday afternoon, buses and vehicles carrying members of Liwa Zeinebiyoun and Iraqi Hezbollah, both affiliated with Iran, arrived from the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor towards the western countryside, according to eywitnesses.
Yesterday night, Israeli warplanes targeted three positions of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard–backed Liwa Fatemiyoun faction in the countryside of al-Amiriya town in the eastern countryside of Homs.
The convoy, which placed the “Syrian flag for camouflage,” stationed in dormitories and houses belonging to the aforementioned factions, in the town of Ma’dan Atiq and al-Tabni in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
Earlier on Wednesday, members of Liwa Fatemiyoun began removing rubble and renovating three of their sites in the vicinity of the town of al-Amiriya, after they were subjected to Israeli bombardment after midnight yesterday.
The sky of the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which is under the control of the Syrian government forces and is a stronghold of the Iranian-backed factions, has witnessed, since this morning, intermittent flights of reconnaissance planes, the identity of which has not been known.
The countryside of Deir ez-Zor in general, and the eastern part of it in particular, witnessed a mobilization of the Iranian-affiliated militias as a result of the Israeli raids yesterday night.
