Syrian government forces send military equipment to Palmyra
PALMYRA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, government forces brought military reinforcements to the city of Palmyra and the town of Sukhna in the Syrian Desert, “to raise readiness and in preparation for launching a broad sweep campaign in the area.”
These reinforcements come in light of the increased activity of ISIS cells in the Syrian Desert in general, and the eastern countryside of Homs in particular.
Reinforcements were stationed on the southern and eastern outskirts of Palmyra and the outskirts of Sukhna.
“A large-scale combing campaign will be launched in the eastern countryside of Homs against ISIS cells,” Rami al-Faisal, a member of the military police of the government forces, said.
He pointed out that the operation came after the killing of officials and officers of the government forces in the vicinity of the towns of al-Sukhna, al-Ameriya and Palmyra in during the past period.
