Syria’s AANES postpones mandatory service for IDPs

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the co-chair of the Defense Office in northeast Syria issued a circular to postpone military service for those from Afrin, Gire Spi (Tel Abyad), and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), which are currently under the control of Turkey, for a period of six months.

The implementation of the circular starts from 6-6-2021 until 31-12-2021.

At the beginning of May, the co-chair of the Defense Office issued a circular specifying the births required for military conscription for the people of northeast Syria for the year 2021.

According to the circular, those born from 1-1-1990 to 30-4-2003 are eligible for military service.

On January 22, 2020, the co-chair of the Defense Office in the Jazira region set the starting age required for self-defense duty for those born on 1/1/1990, instead of 1986.
