US calls on Syria, Russia to abide by ceasefire

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the US Deputy Ambassador to the UN, Richard Mills, called on Syria and Russia to abide by the current ceasefire in Syria.

“The peaceful solution to the conflict in Syria starts with the consideration of a ceasefire in all of the country,” Mills said.

“We call on the al-Assad regime and Russia once again to adhere to the current ceasefire in Syria,” he added.

On September 30, 2015, Russia entered the frontlines in Syria.

Earlier, the commander of the US Central Command, Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, warned that the reduction in the American military presence in the Middle East may allow Russia and China to fill the vacuum and expand their influence in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
