SDF arrests 24 ISIS agents in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that they had arrested 24 alleged ISIS members during a security operation with the participation of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
The media center of SDF said in a statement that among the arrested were three terrorists who carried out the assassination of member of the Legislative Council of Deir ez-Zor Mo’yad al-Rayyash last Wednesday.”
The media center added that the operation came as a result of the appeals of the people, after the increase in terrorist operations by ISIS and other parties, which targeted notables and sheikhs in the region, as well as employees of service institutions and scientific cadres.
On Sunday, the security operation began targeting ISIS cells in the Jazarat Albu Hamid area in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor and the random camps in its vicinity.
The security operation included more than 53 points, including tents for the displaced, which ISIS militants used to hide, make improvised explosive devices, and recruit, according to the statement.
The statement indicated that SDF thwarted a number of terrorist operations plans, and seized a large number of hand grenades and Kalashnikov weapons, in addition to various pieces of military clothing and drugs.
