Autonomous Administration’s employee killed in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A young man lost his life after unknown individuals riding a motorbike fired at him in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, on Wednesday.
Mo’yad al-Rayyash was shot by unknown armed men while driving through the market of the town killing him immediately, a local source from the town of al-Jazarah, 80 kilometers west Deir ez-Zor, told North Press.
The source added that the armed men fled after the incident.
Al-Rayyash, who is from the town of Jadid Bakarah east of Deir ez-Zor, is a member of the Legislative Council of the Autonomous Administration in al-Jazarah, according to the source.
The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing large-scale assassinations targeting Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) members, civil administration employees, tribal notables, and civilian residents, some of which Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for.
On Tuesday, ISIS, through close outlets on social media, claimed responsibility for planting an IED that targeted an SDF’s car in the town of al-Kaber, west Deir ez-Zor.
