Syrian government forces shell opposition sites in Idlib and Hama
IDLIB, Syria (North Press)- On Sunday, Syrian government forces renewed their bombing of the fortifications of the opposition groups in the de-escalation zone, northwest Syria, as part of the mutual bombardment between the two parties in the region.
Opposition military sources told North Press that the government forces attacked the fortifications of opposition groups, near the Zizoun and Ziyarah towns in Ghab Plain area in the western countryside of Hama, with artillery shells and rocket launchers.
In Idlib, sites of the opposition groups in the towns of al-Fatira and al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain region, south of Idlib, were subjected to mortar shelling from the sites of the neighboring Syrian government forces in the city of Kafr Nabl, according to the same sources.
The bombing coincided with intense flight of Russian warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft over the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Latakia, and the countryside of Aleppo, without any news of casualties reported.
The military escalation comes within the de-escalation zone between the Syrian government forces and pro-Turkish opposition groups, despite the validity of the ceasefire agreement, which has entered its second year.
