Politicians in Syria’s Manbij call for pressure on Turkey over water

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, politicians from the city of Manbij called on the international community and relevant authorities to stop the recent Turkish violations against millions of Syrians in northeast Syria, through seizing the Euphrates River water since the beginning of this year.

Asya Hussein, head of the Organizational Office of the Future Syria Party in Manbij, said Turkey has made all efforts to achieve gains in Syrian territory through its military and political interventions since the beginning of the Syrian crisis.

Turkey has been seizing the Euphrates River since February, leaving an uncertain fate for millions of people in northeast Syria.

Hussein added,”Water seizure has greatly affected all aspects of life for the residents of northeast Syria, including drinking water, electricity and irrigation.”

Al-Hussein added to North Press that Turkey, “would not have committed all these violations if the international community had not turned a blind eye or had exerted pressure on it to prevent them.

Al-Hussein called on called on humanitarian, human rights, and civil organizations in the world to  pressure Turkey to stop seizing  water and give Syria’s share as before.
