Syrian government bombs opposition in Idlib and Latakia countryside

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Syrian government forces targeted the sites of the opposition groups in the countryside of Idlib and Latakia, northwest Syria, With heavy artillery and surface-to-surface missiles.

Military sources in the opposition told North Press that the government forces targeted, with heavy artillery and surface-to-surface missiles, positions of the opposition groups in the towns of Sufuhon, al-Fateira, and al-Bara, located in Zawiya Mountain in the southern countryside of Idlib.

The government forces bombed the sites of opposition groups in the Kabanah hills, north of Latakia, and no casualties were reported, according to the sources.

The bombing coincided with intense flight of Russian warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft over Idlib, Hama, Aleppo and Latakia.

On Sunday night, Sources from Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other armed groups, announced that they targeted locations of the government forces in towns of Jerada and Hantoteen, south of Idlib countryside .

The military escalation between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed groups is taking place despite the ongoing two-year-old ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and Turkey.
