Tribal reconciliation meeting held in Syria’s Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, a meeting was held between the al-Busraya and al-Sakhani tribes in the city of Raqqa, north Syria, in the presence of notables and sheikhs of the Raqqa tribes and representatives of the Raqqa Civil Council.

On April 24, the city of Raqqa witnessed a quarrel between people from al-Busraya and al-Sakhani tribes, as a result of which three people lost their lives and others were injured.

A few days ago, a number of sheikhs and notables of the Raqqa tribes sent invitations to the sheikhs of al-Busraya and al-Sakhani tribes to reconcile with each other, which met with a response from the sheikhs of the two tribes.

During the reconciliation, several speeches were given by sheikhs and notables of the tribes, in which they stressed the necessity of cohesion between the members of the tribes and the elimination of strife between them.

The words indicated that social cohesion in Raqqa must be a stronger motive than any tribal motives, fanaticism, and tribal tendencies that contribute to threatening cohesion in the region.

Delegates from the Public Relations Office of the Raqqa Civil Council and others from the Religious Affairs Institution in Raqqa participated in the reconciliation.
