15 coronavirus deaths recorded in Syria’s northeast
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced the recording of 111 new coronavirus infections and 12 deaths in northeast Syria.
AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the deaths were three men from Hasakah, two men and three women from Qamishli, and a man in each of Derbasiya, Kobani and Deir ez-Zor.
The majority of infections were concentrated in the following areas: Hasakah 51, Raqqa 22 Qamishli 17, Derik 10, and Derbasiya five.
Other infections were in: Roj Camp five, al-Hawl Camp three, one each in Amuda, Girke Lege, and Shahba in the northern countryside of Aleppo, where Afrin IDPs reside.
Meanwhile, the AANES Health Board recorded 17 new recoveries.
With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 15,673 confirmed cases, including 557 deaths and 1,589 recoveries.
This statistic comes a day before the end of the total and partial lockdown period specified in the Autonomous Administration areas.
According to a source in the Autonomous Administration, the partial lockdown will continue until the number of cases decreases.
