Syrian government expels National Defense Forces from Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The military leadership of the Syrian government forces expelled the National Defense Forces (NDF) affiliated with them, from all over the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, an informed military source said on Monday.
The source, who refused to be revealed, added that the military leadership of the Syrian army expelled the members of the NDF from the outskirts of the Qamishli International Airport, Znoud neighborhood and from the 54 Regiment in Turtub town.
He pointed out that the decision to expel the NDF groups was made after pressure made by the Russian forces operating in the region and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), during a series of meetings which resulted in a permanent truce in Qamishli.
The Syrian government forces are currently working on disarming the National Defense groups, according to the source.
Yesterday, Asayish said that it had reached a permanent truce after days of violent clashes between it and the National Defense groups in al-Tai neighborhood.
Also, the Russian military police and Asayish will conduct patrols within the neighborhood.
