With NGO help, Syria’s AANES rehabilitates school in Hasakah countryside

AL-SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – Schools Management Committee of the Autonomous Administration in al-Shaddadi, south of Hasakah, northeast Syria, is working on rehabilitating the northern neighborhood school that was destroyed during the battles against ISIS in 2016.

Muhammad al-Jarad, co-chair of the Schools Management Committee in al-Shaddadi, told North Press that maintenance workshops are now working on rehabilitating Abu al-Qasem al-Shabbi school.

He said that the restoration comes with the support of Solidarity, a non-governmental organization from France based in Amuda town, northeast Syria.

“Rehabilitating Abu al-Qasem al-Shabbi School will relieve pressure on the neighboring schools,” al-Jarad noted.

He We hope that the school will be ready within two months.

“After completing maintenance works, we will equip the school with supplies like desks and boards,” he stated.

Four schools were destroyed in al-Shaddadi as a result of the armed opposition groups’ control of the city and during the battles took place between ISIS and the SDF.

The School Management Committee in al-Shaddadi called on the humanitarian organizations operating in northeast Syria to provide support to the Autonomous Administration to be able to restore all the destroyed schools in the region.
