Syria’s AANES distributes food baskets on families affected by lockdown in Hasakah
Al-SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) distributed a number of food baskets on poor families and those affected by the complete lockdown against coronavirus in the city of al-Shaddadi, south of Hasakah.
“The number of baskets reached 400, and they will be distributed in the city only,” head of Social Affairs and Labor Committee in al-Shaddadi, Muhammad Saleh, told North Press.
“The distribution is carried out though the coordination between the local council and communes’ administrators, as each family receives a basket allocated to it,” he added.
Each basket includes some basic foodstuff like rice, sugar, bulgur, lentils, pasta, oil, and some detergents.
Saleh pointed out that many families are in need of these baskets and the number of baskets they have is insufficient to cover all the families.
On April 23, the AANES decided to impose a one-week partial curfew in all its areas of control with extending the complete lockdown in the regions of Jazira and Tabqa.
