Civilian killed by Turkish border guards in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Tuesday, a civilian was shot dead by Turkish border guards as he tried to cross into Turkish territory northwest of Syria’s Idlib.
Local sources told North Press that the young Basil Hajj Hamdo died while trying to enter Turkish territory near the Harem area close to the Syrian-Turkish border.
The young man is a resident of the village of Bazabur in the southern countryside of Idlib, and was on his way to Turkish territory to work there as a result of the poor living conditions in Idlib countryside, according to the source.
Most of those trying to enter Turkish territory resort to dangerous smuggling routes in light of the lack of other ways to reunite with their families or secure work to meet their needs.
On March 9, a civilian was shot dead by Turkish border guards, while trying to cross into Turkish territory north of Idlib.
On March 23, a man and his wife were also shot dead by the Turkish gendarmerie while trying to cross into Turkish territory, near the Khirbet al-Jouz region, west of Idlib.
