Turkey violates international human rights: SDF official
HASAKA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) female commander, Newroz Ahmed, said that life imprisonment on Cicek Kobani by Turkey is an unjust decision that violates international laws.
“The Turkish state and its armed groups invaded our regions and arrested Cicek Kobani who was doing humanitarian works and helping residents,” Ahmed told North Press.
“We can say that Cicek Kobani did no harm to the Turkish state. She was on her land and defending her people,” she added.
SDF official pointed out that their fight in the legal field will continue until her release.
“We call on different international parties working in human rights field to show solidarity with Cicek, who was stripped of her rights,” she noted.
Cicek Kobani was transferred to Turkish territory after being arrested on October 21, 2019 during an invasion by Turkish-backed Syrian armed groups of the cities of Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in northeast Syria.
On March 23, Turkish courts handed down a life sentence to Cicek Kobani, real name Dozgin Temmo, who was a volunteer in the rank of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
