Residents protest Russian patrol in Syria’s Tel Tamr
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, local residents in Syria’s Tel Tamr intercepted four Russian armored vehicles coming from Qamishli on the M4 highway.
Russian forces conducted a regular patrol on the M4 highway, coming from Qamishli base toward al-Mabaqer station north of Tel Tamr, which has acted as their headquarters since December after the Turkish invasion of northeastern Syria in October last year, according to a military source.
The source told North Press that four Russian armored vehicles were coming from their base in Qamishli. With the arrival of two Russian armored vehicles to a checkpoint on the M4 highway 1 km from the town, local residents intercepted them and threw stones at them in an attempt to block their progress, forced them to return, and burned the Russian flag.
Recently, scenes of intercepting Russian patrols have been repeated by local residents in the countryside of Tel Tamr, which often forced Russian forces to move back to their headquarters.
