Asayish arrests dozens of wanted in Syria’s Hawl

HASAKAH, Syria (north Press) – On Wednesday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced the arrest of more wanted people and the seizure of booby-traps as part of their ongoing security campaign in Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

“The number of the detainees during the fourth day of the campaign, has reached 70 people,” Ali al-Hassan, Asayish spokesman, told North Press.

“Two ISIS leaders, who were responsible for sleeper cells in the camp, were among the detainees,” he added.

Al-Hassan pointed out that military equipment and special batteries designed for booby traps were seized, as well.

On March 28, the Asayish along with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) supported by Counter-terrorism Forces and rapid Deployment Forces launched a security campaign inside the camp.

The security operation was entitled the “Humanity and Security Campaign,” with the aim of reducing the danger of ISIS sleeper cells, which have killed 47 people since the beginning of this year.
