SDF arrests ISIS members in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, a source from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said, they arrested four members of ISIS sleeper cells in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The source added that the SDF conducted a military operation supported by the US-led Global Coalition’s warplanes, resulted in the arrest of a leader and three members of ISIS in al-Shuhail town, east of Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF periodically conducts military and security operations in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor to eliminate ISIS sleeper cells. 

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing broad assassinations of employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), SDF members, tribal notables, and residents of the region.

On March 16, the SDF arrested three ISIS gunmen for opening fire on a checkpoint of the SDF in Baghouz town, east of Deir ez-Zor.

Earlier, the SDF managed to arrest members of the so-called “Economy and Zakat [Muslims’ tax] Cell in Wilayat al-Khair” in the countryside of Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor.
