Trading with “occupation” is submission to fait accompli: SDC

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, member of the Public Relations Office of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), Salam Hussein, said that the attempt to trade with the areas of “the Turkish occupation is a submission to the fait accompli situation and accepting the occupation.”

The development came with the ongoing escalation in the de-escalation zone, and indications of increasing differences between Moscow and Ankara regarding the arrangements for the situation in the region.

Hussein added that the results of the tripartite meeting between Russia, Qatar and Turkey have begun to appear on the ground.

“It is clear that these meetings do not try to find solutions to the Syrian crisis, but rather seek to complicate it,” he said.

Hussein considered the closure of the crossings with the Autonomous Administration regions by the Syrian government to civilians and trade movement “a practical application of the results of those meetings.”

Hussein pointed out that the people who are suffering from the burden of difficult economic conditions, are the affected.”

These actions increase the rift between the political parties, as the method of political and economic blackmail increases the depth of the crisis, according to Hussein.

“We must look for serious political solutions instead of resorting to other options,” he noted.

Since March 21, the government forces imposed restrictions on the trade and civilians’ move in the crossings with the AANES regions.

On March 24, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had reached an agreement with Turkey to reopen three crossings in Idlib and Aleppo governorates, northwest Syria, “with the aim of easing the difficulty of the humanitarian situation in the territories under Turkey’s control.”
