Turkey illegally detains Cicek Kobani: SDC official
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – “Turkish government is illegally detaining Cicek Kobani,” Elham Ahmad, the President of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), said on Thursday.
“She was a member of forces that fought alongside the Global Coalition and defeated ISIS,” Ahmad tweeted.
“She should not be illegally tried by a NATO member,” she added.
Elham Ahmad indicated that Kobani “deserves the same freedom she worked for in Syria.”
Earlier on Thursday, Cicek Kobani’s mother, Wahida Othman, called on human rights groups and the United Nations to intervene to stop a Turkish court’s ruling against her daughter, which she describes as “illegal and unjust.”
Cicek Kobani was transferred to Turkish territory, after being arrested on October 21, 2019 during an invasion by the Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition groups on the cities of Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in northeast Syria.
On March23, Turkish courts handed down a life sentence to Cicek Kobani, real name Dozgin Temmo, who was a volunteer in the rank of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
