Russia proposes Turkey open corridors into northwest Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the deputy head of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Hmeimim, Alexander Karpov, said he sent Turkey a proposal to reopen three corridors in Turkish–held areas in Syria after the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in northwest Syria.
“The proposal included resumption of work of the corridors of Saraqeb and Mizner in Idlib and Abu Zeyden in Aleppo,” he added.
“The proposal included sending two humanitarian shipments, and the exit of IDPs through the corridors starting from March 25,” he pointed out.
Northwest Syria is currently under the control of Turkish forces and their affiliated armed groups.
On Tuesday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian Ambassador, and expressed its concern over recent developments in northwest Syria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned in a statement that “Turkey conveyed Ankara’s concerns about Syrian forces’ attacks on northwestern Syria to Russia.”
