Gen. Abdi and US envoy Brownstein light Newroz flame in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday evening, the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Gen. Mazloum Abdi, and the US Deputy Special Envoy to Syria, David Brownstein, lit the Newroz flame in Hasakah, northeast Syria.
The SDF leadership with the participation of officers and soldiers of the US-led Global Coalition celebrated Newroz by lighting the Newroz flame, as on the eve of March 21, fires are set in the squares and public places.
Since the start of the war against ISIS in northeast Syria in 2014, it has been customary for officers and soldiers of the Global Coalition to take part in the occasion.
This is the first time in which the leaders of the SDF with the participation of a high-level American diplomat alongside officers and soldiers of the Global Coalition celebrate Newroz.
