Russia reveals close operational cooperation with Washington in Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu said Wednesday that Russia and the United States are maintaining close contacts in Syria on the operational and tactical levels.
Shoygu said in an interview with Tengrinews Kazakhstan that there are close contacts with the Americans at the operational and tactical level in Syria.
“That may be a secret, and I reveal it. Contacts take place several times a day, in the administration of airspace, and in the implementation of air measures to combat terrorism,” he added.
The minister noted that the first steps of the new US administration, with the arrival of President Joe Biden, raise hope.
“It is now clear that they have moved from presenting unachievable demands and proposals to a natural and constructive dialogue. As an example: the START Treaty ,” he added.
