Casualties among opposition groups in explosion in Syria’s Sere Kaniye
SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, two members of the Turkish-backed Sultan Malak Shah group were killed as they were transporting a motorcycle bomb near the village of Salhiya, in the countryside of the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeast Syria.
A source from the Military Police said that the motorcycle was caught at one of the checkpoints and exploded after being placed in the back of a pickup belonging to the armed opposition groups.
Other sources said that the motorcycle “was stolen from the village of al-Rihaniya, and it exploded while being transported by the members of the group to their headquarters.”
On February 3, an IED exploded inside a clothing store near al-Barid roundabout in the city of Sere Kaniye, wounding one person in addition to material damage to the place.
Opposition-held areas are witnessing consecutive bombings, kidnappings of civilians and infighting.
The city of Sere Kaniye has been under the control of Turkish forces and opposition groups since the Turkish invasion of northeastern Syria in October 2019.
