Iranian shock leads to broad escalation in the region: politician

QAIRO, Egypt (North Press) – Iran was “shocked” by the developments in the American position regarding the issue of lifting sanctions, Muhammad Khayri, a politician specialized in the Iranian issues, told North Press on Saturday.

“Iran was counting on the new US president Joe Biden, as the Iranian expectations indicated that once the president took power, he would start negotiating with Tehran immediately,” Khayri added.

However, it turned out that Biden’s policies are very similar to the former president Donald Trump, which caused a kind of shock to Iran.

Being shocked, Iran started to escalate, and it sought to support its affiliated armed groups to accuse the US of being the cause of the outbreak of violence in the region,” according to Khayri.

Khayri pointed out that the African continent is among the places that Iran could manage to work in greatly through moving its cells there.

“Biden’s administration is intent on undermining Iranian behavior in the region, and the biggest evidence is that Biden has not canceled the US sanctions yet,” he noted.
