SDF members were killed and wounded in attack in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed and another was wounded in an attack by unidentified persons on a military vehicle in the town of al-Shuhail, east of Deir ez-Zor.

 “Unidentified persons fired at a military vehicle belonging to the SDF near the irrigation channel in the town of al-Shuhail,” a military source told North Press.

“One SDF members lost his life and another was wounded as a result of an attack,” the source added.

A civilian was killed by unidentified persons on a motorbike near al-Atal roundabout in al-Shuhail on Thursday.

A local source from the town told North Press that “masked men shot Nawar Ibrahim al-Nofal to death on the road from al-Atal Roundabout to al-Tekaihi Bridge.”

The source added, “al-Nofal comes from the town of al-Shuhail.”

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed many assassinations of SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal notables, and civilians.

As a response, the Syrian Democratic Forces and Global Coalition Forces have intensified their security operations in the region.

The source pointed out that “the SDF imposed a security cordon on the area immediately after the incident.”

On Wednesday, unidentified persons shot dead a local council employee in Hajin, 110 km east of Deir ez-Zor.
