Mutual bombardment between government forces and armed groups in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Mutual bombardment occurred on Friday between government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in the de-escalation zone, northwest Syria.
Government forces targeted the fortifications of the opposition groups in the villages of Binin, Bara, Kansafra, and Feteira in Zawiya Mountain area, south Idlib, with heavy artillerys and missiles, a field source told North Press.
The source added that the government’s bombardment also coincided with an intense flight of reconnaissance aircraft and warplanes in the area.
The government forces also targeted the villages of Sarmaniyah and Al-Ankawi in the western countryside of Hama with artillery shelling, the source added.
A military sources in the opposition told North Press that the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted a government posts in Kafr Nabl south of Idlib, with heavy artillery.
Al-Fateh Al-Mubin Operations Room snipped two government members in Kafr Nabl city of in the southern countryside of Idlib, the source added.
On Thursday, four civilians were wounded due to a government bombardment on Bara town in Zawiya Mountain region in the southern countryside of Idlib.
Recently, the pace of mutual targeting between Syrian government forces and opposition groups within the de-escalation zone, northwest Syria, has increased.
The Russian-Turkish signed agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol in March 2020 provide for a halt to the military actions in the governorate of Idlib and its surroundings.
