Syrian Kurds to have share in regional peace-Erdogan
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that Syrian Kurds will have a share in peace and stability in the region.
In remarks to Qatar’s Al Jazeera, Erdogan said Turkey would continue to strengthen its relations with Kurds and protect their rights across the region.
“Syria will not be alone, and we will do everything we can to support its stability,” he said, adding that he would visit Syria in the coming period.
Erdogan said continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon were a source of concern, adding that he discussed with U.S. President Donald Trump during his recent visit to Turkey the need to end the war in Lebanon.
Regarding the Mecca Agreement, Erdogan said it had sent a message to the world, adding that the agreement requires signatory states to take joint steps if any of them comes under external attack.
He said the agreement allows other countries to join in the future, adding that Egypt could also participate.
