HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found the body of an Iraqi refugee murdered by unknown persons in Hawl Camp, east of Syria’s Hasakah.
22-year-old Iraqi refugee Marwan Mahmoud Sabar was killed by gunshots to the head fired by unknown persons, a security source from the camp told North Press.
Hawl Camp has been witnessing security tension since the beginning of 2021, as it recorded its highest death toll in the camp’s history. 25 murders have been recorded since the start of the year, and among the victims are Iraqi refugees, displaced Syrians, and a member of Asayish.
The source added that their forces found the body after they received a report from the third section of the camp, and have begun investigations to find out who was behind the killing.
