Turkish forces deploy on Syria’s M4 Highway

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Turkish forces deployed intensively on the M4 Highway as it closed all the entrances to Muhambal town in western Idlib.

A military source from the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation said that Turkey deployed dozens of its soldiers on the M4 Highway; the Turkish forces also closed all roads leading to the town in the Jisr al-Shughour area, west of Idlib, on Saturday night – Sunday.

He pointed out that the deployment and the closure of roads came against the background of information received by the Turkish forces about the presence of people who targeted the forces’ guard near the M4 Highway last week, in the town.

In late January, unknown assailants targeted a Turkish security guard in the Abu Al-Zubair area near the town of Mhambel, west of Idlib. Two operatives were seriously wounded, one of whom died.

Turkish forces are still deploying in the vicinity of the town of Mhambel amid a state of alert along the M4Hightway, according to the source.
