Syrian regime failed to sow sedition between Kurds and Arabs: AANES

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Abd Hamed al-Mehbash, co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), said, “the Syrian regime has failed to create strife between Kurds and Arabs in the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.”

“The regime pressured and mobilized the people in Hasakah to go out in demonstrations and protests with the aim of thwarting the Autonomous Administration,” he told North Press.

“Some people within the Security Square in the two cities of Hasakah and Qamishli contacted the Autonomous Administration and said that the regime forcibly pushed them to protest,” al-Mehbash added.

He stated that the pressure exerted by the Syrian government on the Afrin IDPs “identifies with its supporters such as Iran and Russia.”

The Syrian government aims to besiege Afrin’s IDPs in the Shahba area, north of Aleppo, to “force them to accept its agendas,” according to al-Mehbash.

Earlier today, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced the return of normal life to the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli after more than two weeks of tension in both cities.
