Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, confirmation hearing postponed
WASHINGTON, US (North Press) – Supporters of the outgoing US President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol on Wednesday, coinciding with the postponement of the confirmation hearing on Joe Biden’s victory in Congress.
The Democrats will be able to gain the upper hand in the US Senate after the two Democratic candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff announced on Wednesday that they won the first and second seats in the Senate.
The victory of the Democratic candidate Warnock to the Senate seat in Georgia, is a historic event as he will be the first African American to represent Georgia and the southern states in the Senate.
The Democrats’ victory leaves the Senate divided, with each party having 50 seats, but the Democrats will have the preference with the Vice President Kamala Harris having the last casting vote.
Meanwhile, thousands of the supporters of the outgoing US President Donald Trump gathered in the streets of Washington DC, to listen to a speech by President Trump, confirming his objection to the election results that will be approved today in the US Congress.
