Renewed clashes on eastern outskirts of Syria’s northern Ain Issa

AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) responded to an infiltration attempt by the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups, in the eastern outskirts of the town of Ain Issa, north of Syria’s Raqqa.

On Sunday, residents of Syria’s Ain Issa said that American forces left them under the Turkish shelling and withdrew, while Russian forces watch as they are bombed.

The town of Ain Issa has been witnessing frequent shelling by Turkey and its affiliated   armed opposition groups since its offensive on Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad (Gre-Spi).

A military source told North Press that clashes took place in the meantime between the SDF and the armed opposition groups on the outskirts of the villages of Musharifa, al-Jahbel and Saida, east of Ain Issa.

The villages of Jahbel, Saida and Ma’alak, located 3 km east of Ain Issa on the M4 highway, have been subjected to artillery shelling by the Turkish forces and the armed groups affiliated with them.

The villages of Mushairefa, Jhabal and Saida are considered points of direct contact between the SDF and the Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition groups.

The town of Ain Issa is witnessing a cautious calm with the closure of the vast majority of shops, in addition to the remaining residents’ fears of the continued bombing.
