Legislative councils in Syria’s Raqqa and Tabqah discuss developing laws

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Ibrahim al-Obaid, the co-chair of the Legislative Council in Raqqa, said that the Legislative Councils in Raqqa and Tabqah were held with the participation of 40 human rights defenders, discussing laws in the two regions and submitting proposals for their development.

Al-Obaid said, a consultative forum was held on Monday, between the two councils, which dealt with legislation in northeastern Syria in general, and the mechanism for its implementation during the current circumstances and the challenges that hinder its implementation.

He pointed out that the consultative forum came as a result of the dialogue seminars held by the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) in several regions of northeastern Syria, in which the need to change laws to meet the needs of the people was discussed.

He said that the forum resulted in the formation of a follow-up committee to receive proposals from the attendees to be submitted to the SDC.

The National Conference for People of Jazira and Euphrates regions, sponsored by the SDC, was held this morning in the city of Hasakah with the participation of Syrian opposition figures and members of the Moscow and Riyadh platforms.
