Turkish forces fire farmers in Syria’s Kurdish-held Derik
DERIK, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish border guard forces shot on Wednesday, two farmers who were planting their lands in the countryside of Derik, northeastern Syria.
The Turkish forces fired at about 12:00 p.m. on two farmers from the villages of Mazra Foqani and Mazra Tahtani, north Derik on the banks of the Tigris River, local sources told North Press.
Residents transferred the farmers, who were wounded in their legs, to Derik Hospital; however their situation was good, according to medical sources in the hospital.
On October 20, two civilians died on the outskirts of the village of Mezra in the countryside of Derik when their vehicle was hit by a drone strike which was likely to be Turkish.
The Turkish army and its backed armed opposition groups have been preventing farmers in Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, from reaching to their lands on the frontlines for two years.
The unplanted lands in Tel Tamr frontlines are located on more than 50 km length and about 8 km width, according to officials in the economic committee in the town.
