We are committed to UN Resolution 2254, Autonomous Administration
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The co-chair of the Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), Abdulkarim Omar, said that they are committed to the UN Resolution 2254.
In an exclusive interview with North Press, Omar expressed his hope in reevaluating the structure of the High Negotiations Committee (HNC) and the Constitutional Committee.
He pointed out that both committees does not represent the will of the Syrian people, and serves the agendas of regional countries.
At the beginning of the Syrian crisis, they were in constant contact with the Syrian opposition parties and the countries concerned, including Turkey, according to Omar.
“Most of the national figures withdrew from the Syrian opposition coalition, as it is controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood that acts according to the Turkish agenda,” He added.
Omar stressed the necessity of the participation of the AANES in the political process because, “we represent one third of Syria.”
Therefore, there will be no radical solution to the Syrian crisis with the absence of more than 5 million people, as he stated.
Omar believes that the next phase will witness developments within the framework of resolving the Syrian crisis.
Until now, the AANES has been excluded from the ongoing negotiations regarding the Syrian crisis.
The reason for the exclusion is the Turkish veto which hindered the countries concerned with the Syrian issue to involve the AANES in the political process.
