NBC News TV channel has hosted the first presidential debate of the Democratic presidential candidates for the year 2020, among the 20 candidates who faced media questions, the name of Tulsi Gabbard emerged as the most searched candidate by the Americans after the debate, according to the statistics of search engines.
A few months ago, Gabbard chose Ms. Ilham Ahmad, the co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council SDC, to be her guest at the State of the Union Meeting, in which President Trump delivered a bipartisan speech, where each congressman hosts a guest expressing his convictions.
Gabbard had announced her choice to make Ilham Ahmad her guest in this event, as she wrote on her Twitter account: “Later tonight I’ll welcome Syrian Kurdish leader, Ilham Ahmed, Co-President of the Syrian Democratic Council, as my guest to the State of the Union address. She has been a leader in the fight against ISIS in Syria, and a strong advocate for peace”

“We must bring our troops home from Syria, quickly and responsibly, but President Trump’s announcement of withdrawal from Syria could leave the Kurds vulnerable to slaughter by Turkey’s President Erdogan who has repeatedly threatened to attack them and invade Syrian territory long-held by Syrian Kurds,” Gabbard added.
Gabbard adopted her position towards the Syrian Democratic Forces and Ilham Ahmad because of her military background as a woman, despite her strong opposition to changing the government in Syria and rehabilitating the “opposition” as an alternative, accusing what she called the “Jihadist opposition groups” of violating human rights.
Tulsi Gabbard, who has been a member of the House of Representatives for four years for the State of Hawaii, was most known for her strong opposition to wars, regime change and her meeting with the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad two years ago.
Although Gabbard takes her opposition to war as a fundamental principle of her foreign policy vision, yet she has repeatedly expressed her admiration of the experience of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and its quality as a reliable local alternative and a partner that helps the United States to secure peace and stability in the region through local forces that proved their worth in fighting the Islamic State group, and help in reducing the need for a US military presence in the Middle East.
Gabbard has a military background as she served in the US military in the Iraqi war between 2004 and 2005, she also served in Kuwait.
Tulsi Gabbard was the first Democrat to meet President Trump two months after arriving at the White House following an undeclared trip to Damascus where she met the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, then she met President Trump again, where the strategies of the White House then turned to options far from the overthrowing of the Syrian presidency by force, the thing that accords with Trump’s campaign trends.
