Israeli analysts: Military mobilizations on northern borders with Lebanon means we are ready for war

Ramallah – North-Press Agency
The announced military mobilization on the northern borders with Lebanon is still ongoing, as the strain increases with Hezbollah; more forces were mobilized on the borders.
There is mounting fear of Hezbollah response to the last week’s attack on the southern Beirut suburb by two Israeli reconnaissance planes.
Israeli journalist Yaacoub Ezra told North-Press that this military mobilization followed Hezbollah’s threats to respond to the attacks on Beirut suburb, but Ezra put this mobilization in the context of Tel Aviv’s message that Israel is ready for all scenarios, including a full-scale war.
“Israel cannot be silent on any threat against its security, therefore it prepares to respond to any hostile move”, Ezra said.
On Saturday, the Israeli forces had announced sending additional military mobilizations to the northern borders.
Israel and the War
Yaacoub Ezra noted that Israel does not want war, pointing out “the official stance speaks of the right of self-defense and that Israel is targeting anyone who plans to harm its security, but if war was a necessity, it will not hesitate to wage war on all fronts”.
Ezra said that the sent Israeli messages to the Lebanese state and Hezbollah indicate that Israel does not want war while it’s approaching elections, adding “Tel Aviv is acting in self-defense, it isn’t looking for wars that will cost everyone a great loss of life and property”.
Ezra explains that Israel is seeking through the operating parties in the region, particularly the United States, Russia and even the Arab countries, to help reducing the tensions with Iran and Hezbollah in order to avoid the dangers of war.
While political analyst Shaul Mensheh told North-Press that despite the high alert on the northern fronts, the military assessment of the situation is that Israel and Hezbollah do not want the situation to deteriorate into war, but Hezbollah might act against the wishes.
Shaul recalled the 2016 Lebanon war, which broke out despite Israel and Hezbollah’s attempt to avoid it, even as Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said: “If I knew that the kidnapping of the two Israeli soldiers would lead to war, I would not have done so”.
However, Mansha concludes Nasrallah’s speech last night that “the response will be limited and deliberate” so that it does not ignite a war scenario, despite that Mansha believes that the decision to wage a war is in the hands of Iran, considering that Tehran is not interested in the war, even though it is trying to strengthen Hezbollah’s capabilities.
