An Arabic newspaper described the approval of the Turkish parliament to authorize the Turkish President Erdogan to send troops to Libya to support Fayez al-Sarraj in Tripoli as an “invasion of Libya” and “a clear challenge to Arabs and the world”, pointing out that there is no official authorization from any international or Arab organization, the thing which violates the international law, the charter of the United Nations, as he puts his country in confrontation with the Arab world.
Gulf newspaper said in a report today: "The UAE declared its absolute rejection of the Turkish decision and considered it as a violation of the international legitimacy decisions, especially the Security Council Resolution of 1970, it has warned of the repercussions of the Turkish intervention, and the flimsy justifications of which Ankara takes as cover to such intervention."
The newspaper said in its report that the Turkish parliament's approval of sending troops to Libya plays a dangerous role in threatening the stability of the Mediterranean region.
It added: "Erdogan's insistence on Turkey's involvement in the Libyan crisis will definitely fuel the fire of the conflict and open the door for the intervention of other countries, turning Libya and the region into a regional and international conflict arena. Erdogan's ambitions are to turn Libya into a platform for the Turkish presence in North Africa so that he can turn dreams of the Ottoman expansion into reality."
Moreover, Gulf newspaper considered Turkey's attempt to intervene directly in Libya as a step towards restoring the glories of a sultanate that prevailed then collapsed; stressing that it will face fierce resistance by the Libyan people who will not accept the return of the Ottoman army to its territories.
"Perhaps the Turkish president did not read history well, how the Libyan people resisted the Ottomans and Italian colonialism," the newspaper added. And stressed that Erdogan has prepared to expand the area of terrorism beyond what he did in Syria and Iraq, to Libya and North Africa by transferring the terrorist groups and mercenaries from Syria to Libya.
UAE noted that Fayez al-Sarraj, who recently signed two memorandums of understanding with Ankara has violated the Libyan political agreement signed in Skhirat, 2015, in particular Article 8, which did not give him the powers to sign the agreements alone, rather, through the presidential council and the parliament approval.
Adding: “Erdogan will realize later that he is on a reckless adventure, and he is supporting someone who has lost control of his actions and became rejected by his people."
Gulf newspaper said: "The internal reactions against sending troops to Libya have begun to increase, because Erdogan is plunging his country into a battle through which he seeks expansionist ambitions, and it's certainly not the battle of the Turkish people".
