Limited Turkish options in Libya, more losses awaiting

With the support from the Government of National Accord headed by Faiz al-Sarraj and the armed groups in Tripoli, Turkey made the decision to intervene directly in Libya to fight against the Libyan National Army.

Now, Turkey has only two options, either to go on escalating, which means more losses, or to stop supporting National Accord Government and move back with the least losses.

In a statement to North-Press, the politician Muhammad al-Abbani said that Ankara has got engaged in Libya, and it would not be able to settle the matter for its benefit, as the Turkish army is now besieged in Tripoli.

On the other hand, the head of the Libyan National Conference said to North-Press that the escalation will not be on the benefit of Turkey.

While the political analyst Muhammad al-Zubaydi said that Turkish President Erdogan thought that his mission will be so easy, but he collided with a completely different reality, as the Libyan National Army headed by Colonel Khalifa Hafter will not back down until he liberates all the Libyan territories.

Regarding the Turkish attempts to waste time, al-Zubaydi said: "Any meetings in this regard, is time wasting, as the only solution in Libya is completely defeating the militias.”

In the same context, the Libyan politician talked about the global silence towards the Turkish violations in Libya, as Turkey supports the fighters coming from Idlib, northern Syria. On the other hand, the Libyan National Army is going on its only option, which is to overcome the militias and confront all those interventions.

Colonel Khalifa Hafter had previously subjected his approval of the ceasefire to terms, the most of which is expelling the fighters "mercenaries" from Libya and stopping the moving of the weapons into Tripoli. Hafter described the Turkish intervention as "invasion", which is being resisted by the Libyan National Army.
