A senior official source at a European institution operating in the Palestinian territories has revealed to North-Press, that the international staff and officials working in the West Bank have been instructed to be ready and prepared for the scenario of evacuating the Palestinian territories and to return to their countries at any moment, due to the coronavirus.
According to the source, the decision for evacuation has not issued yet, but to be ready for this scenario when it will be necessary and things become uncontrollable due to the virus.
The spokesperson office of the Palestinian government has announced that the number of people infected with coronavirus in the West Bank has risen to 30 people, after a new infection was recorded for a man in his 30s due to his contact with people infected with the virus, expecting an increase in the infections in the coming days.
While the Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that the results of laboratory tests, which were conducted for the returning pilgrims were negative, confirming that the Gaza Strip is free of the coronavirus.
In the context, Nabil Amr, a journalist, and politician said in an interview with North-Press, that coronavirus represents a comprehensive test of the performance of the Palestinian Authority in the crises of this kind, whether politically, performance or even community, “as this can provide the world with a specific impression of our ability to run a country,” he said.
While in Israel, it has been announced that the number of people infected with coronavirus has increased to 75 people, and the Israeli Ministry of Health has expected that the number of people infected with the virus would increase in the coming days. According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, 14 new infections were recorded in Jerusalem, Sharon, and the southern areas, including two students, and most of whom have returned from travel in the past days.
The Israeli police has announced that they will monitor the application of the Ministry’s instructions regarding imposing a home quarantine on all those coming from abroad, this came after the government announced the imposition of home quarantine on all who arrive from abroad for a period of 14 days, as the decision will remain in effect for two weeks.
The Israeli Ministry of Health also issued new instructions, in an attempt to limit the spread of the virus, by prohibiting the meetings with the participation of more than 2,000 people, and the number would be updated according to the developments. The Ministry also referred to the need to refrain from visiting patients in hospitals and in nursing houses.
